Alabama Clinical Schools developed Specialized Treatment Foster Care to address sexually reactive behaviors displayed by youth ages 6 through 14 with an IQ greater than 60. This program targets children exhibiting sexually reactive behaviors and other behaviors that can managed in a home environment and within the community.

Children meeting criteria for this program may exhibit inappropriate behaviors such as a child touching other children in a sexual way that is not age-appropriate, showing excessive interest/curiosity in sex that overrides other activities, continues to have sexual behaviors even after being re-directed by an adult, talking excessively about sexuality, or has inappropriate knowledge of sexuality for their age, harms or touches animals in a sexual way,
