The
Cognitive Delayed Program is designed to meet the needs
of developmentally delayed youth with sexually abusive
behaviors, who because of their unique functional
deficits often get lost in the mix of other programs
designed for youth with higher level developmental
issues. This program allows for higher staff to resident
ratios allow for a warmer environment that accommodates
for individual needs while maintaining a safe
environment. This program is for males between the ages
of 14-18 with IQ’s ranging from 50-70.
Education services, including pre-vocational and
vocational training (as available), target the
individual academic needs of these special teens to
prepare them for success in public school and get them
ready for developmentally appropriate professions. We
also seek to help them maximize their abilities to
provide for their own independent living needs in the
communities in which they will return. Education
services are provided to this population in a dedicated
classroom.
